Meanwhile, reports are that Nissan Evalia will be made in India in partnership with commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland. Significantly, Ashok Leyland is also rumored to launch Ashok Leyland Style MPV in India. According to sources, Datsun is almost 81 year old brand that was discontinued but was revived by Nissan this year. Some of the famous Datsun cars were Datsun Fairlady, Datsun 240Z , Datsun 720 and others and it is a low cost car brand for the emerging markets. Now that Nissan has decided to bring it to India, the auto industry should expect a decently priced Datsun car. Which model, when is still unclear but it is sure that Nissan will be bringing it sometime in 2014. As per initial information, Datsun cars will be sold by Nissan in India, Indonesia and Russia and the cars will be produced in India or Indonesia.

Meanwhile when May remained was more or less a mayday for some popular car brands, it was Nissan that took a huge leap and sold 98 percent more cars compared to the same month last year. The May month sales were at 3138 units following good sales of Nissan Micra and Nissan Sunny. Meanwhile, Nissan is gearing up for the Evalia launch as Maruti Ertiga is capturing the market gradually but its waiting period is a danger sign for it and this will lead people to choose other cars in the segment.
