Nissan to launch Nissan NV200 in UK after it grand success in US, India still awaits the MPV

The Nissan Evalia (known as Nissan NV200 in US) has almost won US and is now all set to conquer London. Notably, in US, Nissan has supplied NV 200 as taxi cabs and these big sized MPVs with acres of space inside were an instant hit with positive response by the US citizens. Besides this, the NV 200 is also high on mileage and has the reliability of a Japanese car for which Nissan is known. In London, the Nissan MPV will be replacing the TX4 by the London Taxi Company.

Back in India, the Evalia is the most anticipated Rs 9 lakh MPV that has become hot even before its launch as its specifications and inside space has impressed the industry gurus well. Here the Evalia will be competing with Toyota Innova, Chevrolet Tavera and the most happening and best selling MPV Maruti Ertiga. Notably, Nissan will also be launching the commercial version of the Evalia in collaboration with Ashok Leyland and it will be called as Ashok Leyland Stile. The style will target the taxi and people mover segment and will have altogether different specifications and features compared to the personal vehicle Evalia.

Another major MPV launch in India is the Chevrolet Enjoy that will be making the turf harder for other players such as the Evalia. However, experts believe the come what may, no other MPV will be able to disrupt the demand for Ertiga in India as it has a robust brand behind it that is trusted and has been accepted as a car for India. On the other hand, others believe that if Evalia or the Enjoy  are priced well, there could be a shift in focus towards these and then these could also get a similar response as the Ertiga is enjoying.
