Party time for Tata Motors, Mahindra and Honda: Exceptional car sales in March
Tata Motors, Mahindra and Honda India have recorded highest ever sales laying flat all predictions of average sales in March this year. For Tata, its small car Tata Nano was the highest gainer while it is Honda Brio that made it a day for Honda India. For Mahindra exceptional sales were recorded for new Mahindra Xylo, Scorpio. Notably, due to the rise in car prices in mid March it was expected that the second half of the month will witness meek sales however, the pre-budget distress buying could have played its part in the overall sales of these car companies. Year 2012 is till now a good year for car industry as sales have improved after a long period of slumber in 2011.

It is believed that the sales ahead will not be that promising due to the slowing demand following the rise in car prices, excise duty, registration tax and value-added tax. However, the sentiment for took a steep rise in early March when reports started flashing that car prices will increase post the budget.
