This urge was mentioned during the unveiling of the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan of 2020. This Mission will have a whopping investment of more than Rs. 23,000 crore that would be shared equally by the auto industry and government. Currently, India’s transport takes-up a huge amount of energy. More than 80% of India’s requirement of petrol products is met via imports. If we consume energy with this pace, the reliance on oil imports will be increasing in future. Soaring prices of oil globally add on considerably to the India’s import bill, and the day by day sky-rocketing petrol prices has caused a big black hole in the Indian Economy.
According to the new Mission Plan, 6 to 7 million electric vehicles with follow-on liquid fuel savings of about 2.2 to 2.5 million tones can be attained in 2020. The cleaner and much greener efforts will definitely make the transport system in the country easy and less expensive.
