Riding high on Figo’s success, Ford India to roll-out two new small cars

The Indian unit of the US based leading car maker Ford is planning to launch two new small car models in the Indian market. The cars will be rolled-out in the same price range in which its popular Figo model is available.

The plan of launching new small car came in the massive success achieved by the company’s Figo model. So far, Ford India has sold more than 1,00,000 units of the Figo model in the country, leaving its rivals like Volkswagen Polo, Nissan Micra and Chevrolet Beat far behind in sales.

In a recent statement, Ford’s APAC President Mr. Joe Hinrich said that most of company’s upcoming eight products will be in the segment of Figo as more than 70 percent car sales in the country come from small car segment.

The two Ford small car models that are expected to be launched in the country in coming months are expected to include a mini sports utility vehicle and a small car to be shelved below Ford Figo hatchback. A new hatchback version of its popular sedan Ford Fiesta is also speculated to hit the Indian roads by next year.
