Mahindra and Mahindra is keeping itself busy with many things, but topping the charts is the sun-powered electric car. The company is planning to roll out a sun-powered electric car in the Indian car bazaar. It is quite obvious for if we see a sun-powered electric car running on the city roads. All thanks to the soaring fuel prices. This has made the consumer look for new options.

Right now, the company is on the verge of launching Mahindra Reva E2O, which is a fully fledged electric car. This one runs on the lithium ion batteries, which would allow the car to run up to 100 km in a single full charge. however, this car misses out on the solar powering, therefore, you will have to charge this one from a 15 amp point, which is easily available anywhere.  The Mahindra Reva E2O will be manufactured at its plant located in Bangalore and could be rolled out in March this year.

If Mahindra and Mahindra would have powered this one with solar, it would have become a big success even before the launch. However, not featuring the sun-powered facility might be a bit of disappointment for car fanatics. But launching the improved Reva into the market for an expected price of Rs. 5 to 6 lakh will definitely steal the show.

The sky-rocketing fuel prices have certainly affected sales of petrol cars. Rumor has it that the diesel prices will also be rising in 2013 by Rs. 10 or so. Therefore, sun-powered or electric cars will be the only decent and economic option for the consumers.

In the electric car segment, Mahindra Reva doesn’t have much of competition, but one company heading on to give a tough competition to Reva is Nissan Leaf.
