Tata, Hyundai climb in production and booking respectively; Maruti bystander

As it’s a well known truth that Maruti Suzuki India is stagnant these days due to the enduring trouble with its personnel. Sighting the same India’s largest automobile manufacturer, Tata Motors considers an augment in its production. To worsen Maruti’s condition on the other hand, the Korean auto giant in the country; Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL) registers an increase in its bookings of small cars.

In order to draw those competitor’s diesel car consumers who need to wait for long, the company has increased the manufacturing to more than twofold of the existing number at its Pune based unit. Maruti’s plant in Manesar which rolls out Swift Dzire, Swift hatch and SX4 vehicles is under deadlock.

A dealer informed that, as of now Maruti is unable cater its diesel car buyers, reasoning the concerns at its manufacturing plant. Hence, Tata has decided to spread out its production from 300 vehicles to 700 vehicles. He also stated that Tata comprises of a healthy lineup in diesel car segment, especially with the strong ad campaigning of newly launched Tata Vista the company is sure to put a strong hold on the segment where rival Maruti has a stake of nearly fifty percent.

Another reason that may bother the No.1 passenger carmaker is the increase in booking of cars especially the newly launched Hyundai Eon from the rival stable. Mr. R Sethuraman, Senior Vice President for Finance and Corporate affairs at HMIL said that company is not challenging MSI in its compact car segment, but have scaled an up in the bookings of Hyundai cars. On the Eon v/s Alto war he said that Eon is an altogether a small car with diversity and has created a unique identity of its own in the auto market, hence no comparison.

HMIL believes to make a sale of 1, 50,000 Eons per year. The company is the largest exporter of cars from India and supplies to approximately 115 countries around the globe which includes Santro, i10, i20 and plans to export Eon too.
