Tata Motors To Offer Nano In Electronic Avatar
In compliance to government of India’s ambitious project of running electric vehicles on Indian roads by 2030, domestic car maker has decided to bring its highly speculated but not so successful Nano hatchback back into the market in electronic avatar. According to reports domestic car maker has signed an agreement with Jayem Automotives from Coimbatore to supply the body shell of the car which will be integrated with an electric motor and engine. The electronic Nano is said to offer an average of 150 kms after it is charged full.

According to the sources of Tata Motors it has already received the order of 400 electric Nano from Ola cabs. It is reported that in its electronic avatar Nano will be renamed as Jayem Neo and will be unveiled by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 28, 2017. It would be important to mention that going through the poor performance of Nano, there was a time when the company was planning to discontinue it from its portfolio, but going through the emotional attachment of Ratan Tata in the project the company was continuing its production. This secret was disclosed by Cyrus Mistry after termination of his duties as the Chairman of the group.
It would be interested to know that recently Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) the autonomous body of Government of India had invited bids from the manufacturers of electric vehicles to supply their vehicles to the group for encouraging the use of electric vehicles in the government departments. As domestic car maker Tata Motors had submitted the least bid it was given the contract of supply electric vehicles for the government departments.
