The 2020 Mahindra Thar Receives An Over Whelming Response From Buyers
According to recent reports, the 2020 Mahindra Thar SUV from the domestic carmaker Mahindra & Mahindra has succeeded in receiving more than 15,000 bookings within the 18 days, after its launch on October 2, 2020. Commenting on the encouraging response received from the prospective buyers the sources of Mahindra claimed that 57% of the buyers booking Thar are the first-time buyers of any vehicle. Along with this, the company is also receiving more than 65,000 enquiries daily on an average basis.

The interest of the buyers for the generation next Thar can be witnessed from the fact that at the time of its unveiled one of the buyers made a bid of Rs. 1.11 crore to receive the first unit of the 4x4 SUV. The excess of the amount received from the auction will go as the charity to Swades Foundation for initiating relief and recovery programme to combat with the COVID-19.
Under the hood, it is offered in both the petrol and diesel variants. The petrol variant is equipped with a 2.0-litre ‘mStallion’ engine that churns the power of 152 bhp and mated with a six-speed manual gearbox followed by an option of a six-speed automatic transmission system. The diesel variant comes with a 2.2-litre mHawk engine generating the power of 132 bhp, and equipped with a six-speed manual gear transmission system along with an option of a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission system.
Inside the cabin, it receives a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, steering mounted audio controls, coloured multi-info display, cruise control, and roof-mounted speakers. On the safety front it is equipped with dual airbags, hill-start and descent assist, ESP with roll-over mitigation, ISOFIX child seat mounts, ABS+EBD, along with pedestrian protection norms.
It is offered in two trims namely the AX which is an entry-level trim, and LX, the top trim. The price for the base AX petrol trim is Rs. 9.80 lakh, whereas the price for top-end LX trim in diesel variant is Rs. 13.75 lakh. Both the prices are ex-showroom prices.
