Toyota Etios Liva and Etios sedan export to Zimbabwe and Mauritius starts

Toyota is doing to the Etios series cars – Etios Liva hatchback and Etios sedan what Fiat did to Fiat Linea sedan and Fiat Punto hatchback. Experiments and launches in new markets. Toyota has introduced the Etios series in various markets since 2012 including South Africa and now the car maker is all set to launch these cars in Zimbabwe and Mauritius. It is believed that this launch is most strategic from the point of view of the fact that the Indian sales are low and in such a case any affirmative new from abroad will be more than welcome. In the meantime, the special edition of Liva is fast catching up in the country and is all set to attain new records. The price of the Toyota Etios Liva starts at Rs 4.46 while the Etios sedan price starts at Rs 5.45 lakh. Both these Toyota cars are all set to hit the Zimbabwe and Mauritius markets with the exports already commenced recently.

It is believed that more and more car manufacturers are exploring additional opportunities in other countries due to the ongoing slowdown in the demand for cars in India. Currently, the situation in India is pathetic with sales dipping to as low as 22 percent in February and almost all car makers barring few are in crisis. It is due to the low domestic demand that Maruti decided to shutdown production for two days a month till the demand recoups. No doubt, the increase in exports will ease some pressure on car makers who have set in a negative image of the Indian car market.

It is not the case that Toyota Etios and Etios Liva are not selling well in the country but in the respective segments these compete with Maruti Swift Dzire and Maruti Swift that are two of the best selling cars in India and thus the segment have a preference for these Maruti cars. Meanwhile, when these two Maruti cars have the largest share other car makers in these segments have little presence. But the diesel models of Liva and Etios sedan have proved to be some of the best selling ones and they are hoped to continue to be so.
