Volkswagen Group to strengthen its after sales network in India
Car companies in India are not just selling cars but are also polishing the skills of Indians. In such an endeavor, Volkswagen India has decided that it will be opening more of such training centres in India in which youth will be trained in mechatronics, after-sales, soft skills and IT. This will not just help the car maker get good team members but will also help increase the skill level of the Indian youth. These trained people will be absorbed in selling Volkswagen cars in India. Presently, the Group sells Skoda, Audi, Porsche, BMW MINI and Volkswagen cars in the country.
In addition to this, the car maker has also decided to step up the number of sales counters in India by 2015 and this is in consonance with VW’s dream to be a world leader in terms of car sales by 2018 and India is the most prime market for the car maker. Furthermore, more skilled workforce means that the car maker will have more employable people and this will help it fill the present void in its service and sales network team. Presently the car maker has 230 sales and service centres in India where right from the most affordable Volkswagen Polo to the most expensive Volkswagen Passat besides other of the Group cars are sold.
The training centres are run in collaboration with JIS Group and intend to train ready to hire workforce for the Group. Notably, after sales is the weakest point of the car maker and it has to bear the brunt for this as there are regular criticisms by customer who complain that after sales service network of VW is poor. The new workforce is going to boost the number of workforce in after sales and thus the car maker will be able to address the queries and complaints of its customers in a better and timely way. With 1.12 lakh cars sold by the Group in 2012, after sales is a big issue to be addressed by it.
