Volkswagen Jetta petrol version spied, may visit Auto Expo
It was reported earlier that Japanese auto giant Honda Motors is developing diesel engine to cater its consumer demand in the country as it is finding it difficult to maintain its position in the Indian auto sector, the company at present has all-in-all petrol cars in its array. On the contrary, news drops in saying that the German auto maker Volkswagen is getting ready to introduce its Volkswagen Jetta TSI in the petrol variant. The dare to introduce a new petrol variant of its successful model in India is an admiration in itself, and speaks about the stature that Volkswagen Group carries around the globe. This new variant will certainly make its way to the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo.
The new petrol run Volkswagen Jetta TSI will be powered with an engine displacement of around 1800cc. This is the same power-train that currently serves premium sedans Skoda Laura and Skoda Superb. Being a part of the same parent company, this sort of sharing is very common among the automobile manufacturers worldwide. This amazingly quick to respond petrol engine employs a direct injection together with turbocharger to yield some stunning power and torque numbers.
The 1.8L engine generates a supreme power of 160 bhp along with supreme torque of 250 Nm. When both the figures come together they create in some furious acceleration and incredible top-speed numbers. The engine of Volkswagen Jetta TSI is efficient enough to provide a mileage of 8 to 10 km in every liter of petrol.
The exact time of the launch of this petrol vehicle is not announced yet, but it is expected that it will be placed under the existing diesel variant of the Volkswagen Jetta.
Volkswagen in India sells sedans Volkswagen Passat, Volkswagen Phaeton, Volkswagen Vento and Volkswagen Polo in the hatchback segment along with Volkswagen Touareg in the SUV segment.
