Volkswagen Polo based crossover launch in 2014

The German car maker seems to have big plans for the world in the near future. Where it has given some of the best hatchbacks including the Volkswagen Polo, it is also planning a crossover based on it. Meanwhile, reports are also abuzz that the car maker is also developing a new model of the Polo hatchback. Notably, the car maker has been very active in India and its Volkswagen Vento has been more than a success for the car maker. Other Volkswagen cars are also a hit in the premium sedan and luxury car segment. The introduction of the Polo crossover will be able to induct a new offering that will certainly put forward a must buy offering.

Another update that is buzzing in the corridors of the auto industry is that the German car maker could also bring in a car based on the Volkswagen Up small vehicle. Both the Polo crossover and the Up! are highly anticipated in India as well as the product portfolio of the car maker still lacks an affordably priced small car and a crossover that could take on Renault Duster that is the new scintillating offering in the compact SUV segment in India. The Polo based SUV price and other specification are still a mystery and not much is known.

The new crossover based on Polo will be based on the MQB platform and being hatchback based SUV, it would be an over expectation to find much of the SUV traits in it. Rather it will be a big hatchback with some off roading features. The new SUV by Volkswagen is expected to be out by 2014 and more information on it should arrive by early next year but it is sure that the SUV is going to rock instantly as the segment is hot and it will have only a handful of offerings including the Duster and the Ford Ecosport by that time.
