Volkswagen Polo R cup car launches, Polo sports by 2013

Volkswagen, the German auto-giant in India has launched the classy Volkswagen Polo R for the 2012 Polo R Cup. 20 young talented drivers would compete this year with the all new petrol Polo. For the first time, the company would be using the petrol powered Polo for the championship. In the last two years, the teams have been driving the diesel powered Polos in the competition. The first racing championing would begin at the Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore on 7th July, 2012. Furthermore, the Volkswagen Polo R Cup would also be conducted this year at the new Buddh International F1 Circuit, Noida.

The all new TSI Race Polo would be powered by a 1.4 litre 4 cylinders, direct injection in-line that would possess potential to churn peak power of 180 bhp at 6200 rpm with its maximum torque of 250 Nm @ 2000-4500 rpm. This time, these racing hatchbacks have been mated with a Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) replacing the old manual transmissions. Added to this, these new sports hatchbacks are bit heavier than the previous diesel hatchbacks.

News from the auto-major, VW is that the anticipated Volkswagen Polo R might be introduced by 2013. Also, the company has intentions to unveil the Volkswagen Polo WRC Street concept that is expected to be introduced in around 18 months. The company also said that the new production model will carry different and unique styling of the Polo WRC Street concept car. Furthermore, the Polo WRC Street will churn out the motorsports car performance of 162 KW through its 2.0 litre turbo-charged petrol in-line.

It is expected that the performance of this car would have some instincts from Volkswagen Golf GTI’s powertrain. Added to this, this concept machine will have the unique sports suspensions fitted beneath the chassis. Also it will have the Blue Calipers, Gaping black front bonnet scoops, Multi-spokes alloy wheels, Black rear spoiler and diffuser and the elegant R badges on the front and rear profile of the car.
