Volkswagen to pitch in used car division, to sell all brand used cars
Luxury car maker Volkswagen is planning to enter the used car business sensing that the segment is growing at a faster pace. As per reports, the German car maker will be opening its used car unit this year. Top metros New Delhi and Mumbai will be in the focus for the VW initially and by the year end, the car maker expects to increase it to 8-10 dealerships in the country. Thus, soon Volkswagen Vento and Volkswagen Polo besides, Volkswagen Passat and others will be available as used cars in select Volkswagen pre-owned cars showroom. In addition to this, one can also find a car of any brand at the Volkswagen used car showroom.

Down the line, the used car business will be taken to the Tier II cities as well. Neeraj Garg, board member, and Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India has reportedly said that VW’s foray in the used car segment will focus the Tier I and Tier II cities initially this year. Therefore with VW entering the used car business, the segment is expected to have a new player. Most of the car makers such as Tata, Maruti, Mahindra are already in this business.

Similar to the other players in this segment, VW will also be upgrading the used cars with warranty. Garg further said that the VW Finance launched recently would further help used car buyers to buy a used car. As Volkswagen used cars will be covering all the brands, it will be selling hot sellers such as Maruti Alto, Hyundai Santro, Honda City in the mass segment and other premium cars as well besides used cars of its subsidiaries such as Skoda and Audi.
