Volkswagen Touareg to roll on Indian roads by October 2011
Volkswagen is planning to launch its premium SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) before the start of the festive season in India to ensure boosted sales, as the Indian auto market has seen high sales trends in the months of September and October.
The company has a strong base in India and an attractive portfolio filled with cars that are dominating their segment.
This year, Volkswagen launched is premium Sedan, Volkswagen Passat in the month of March. Also, the all new Volkswagen Jetta is about to be launched in the month of August.

Currently, Volkswagen Touareg is under testing in Pune and final changes and up-gradations are being done before it gets launched in the market.
The all new Volkswagen Touareg is expected to be equipped with a 3.6 L V-6 engine which will deliver a maximum power of 280 bhp and will incorporate the BlueMotion Technology. It will be stocked with an 8 speed automatic transmission gearbox.

This new Volkswagen Touareg will be slightly larger in dimensions as compared with its older version and will have a 1.5 inches longer wheelbase and will be 0.5 inch wider and 1.6 inches longer overall.
The other features might include ABS, navigation system, power drive, reinforced frame and many other features that will make the ride safer and comfortable.
Some of the popular hatchback models in the Indian auto market are Toyota Etios Liva, Maruti Swift, Hyundai i10, Chevrolet Beat and Volkswagen Polo. Apart from these popular models, cars going to hit the Indian roads this year are Chevrolet Beat Diesel, Maruti Cervo and New Ford Fiesta.
