VW Polo GT launch on April 25
Come April 25, and there will be a new car added to the Volkswagen car fleet. This new car is VW Polo GT. This is the Gran Turismo model of the Polo and is much more powerful as well sportier than the existing 1.2 L powered Polo hatchback. Though the 1.6 L experience in Polo is not new to India but the GT treatment will be new to it. It is expected that there will be a price difference of around Rs 1 lakh between the base model and the 1.2 L Polo GT but as per the response to high powered variants such as Toyota Etios Liva TRD Sportivo, it seems that this high power petrol variant will also have so many takers.
It is believed that the looking at the present situation this variant will be able to sustain better compared to the earlier attempt by VW last year. Since the 1.6 L variant was devoid of the excise duty concessions, it had a high price but it is believed that this model though high priced will succeed as high end variants or more power variants of the cars are a hit these days.
Currently, the Volkswagen Polo is offered in petrol and diesel guises with Polo SR as the special edition that comes with the Aero Sports package giving the essential sporty touch. The new variant GT will be powered by 1.2 L petrol engine that will have a power output of 1.4 Bhp at 5000 rpm. It will have a seven speed automatic gearbox making it the only hatchback in the country to have a 7-speed transmission. in addition to this, the GT model of Polo will be deriving many features from the VW Vento such as the smoked headlamps and will come with a distinct styling. The car will offer around 14 kmpl mileage which is quite a decent one out of a car which has so much power to deliver.
