Audi ready to launch electric and plug-in hybrid car range in the year 2014
Clearing all speculations related to the time line of the launch of their new plug-in hybrid vehicles in the global market, the Germany based leading luxury car maker, Audi has officially announced the launch of three new hybrid cars in the year 2014. The upcoming hybrid vehicles of the company include Audi A4 plug-in hybrid sedan and the plug-in hybrid crossover Audi Q7 and Plug-in hybrid version of Audi A3 sedan. It is to be mentioned here that the internal combustion version of the A3 sedan will be rolled-out in the Indian market by year 2013-14.

Besides having a new plug-in hybrid technology in its engine, the new A4 sedan will be carrying a new design and a whole range of additional features. The car will be developed at the MQB platform. Moreover, the new plug-in hybrid A4 sedan will come featured with new e-Quattro system along with an electric motor mounted of rear axle. This is the same system that was showcased at the company’s new age LeMans racing cars. Similarly, the plug-in hybrid crossover Q7 will be hosting a new design and will be blessed with front wheel drive.

Both of these cars will be much lighter in weight as compared to the respective previous version of these models, thanks to the use of light weight material like aluminum in the manufacturing of the car. The other major attractions of these models are expected to include a start-stop system, a thermal energy recovery system and brake energy regeneration.

The German auto giant is working aggressively on rolling-out electric and hybrid versions of its more and more portfolio vehicles. The firm aims to have an electric version for every single vehicle model of its portfolio by year 2020. Initially, the firm will be rolling out an electric super car R8 e-Tron by the end of current year.
