Audi’s Quattro drive system gains popularity, five millionth car rolled out
This year and the years to come seem to be celebrating the success of Audi cars worldwide. Recently the Volkswagen subsidiary has celebrated the successful use of five million units of its well acclaimed Quattro system. Notably, it is the Quattro system that is one of the USP of Audi cars since 1980 and is part of a lot of cars including Audi A6, Audi Q7, Audi R8 and others. This all wheel drive system gives extra stability and power to the Audi cars and some of the cars have this as standard while others have it as optional. The five millionth car that housed the Quattro system was Audi A6 that was rolled out of its plant in its homeland - Germany.

Audi cars in India, meanwhile, are on the rise in demand as these cars have proved themselves to be value for money as well as studded with features. The Audi Q3, A6, A4 and other Audi cars have set themselves well in the segment and people prefer Audi cars to BMW and Mercedes Benz. In the recent years, Audi car sales have gone up considerably in India and worldwide as well. In India, Audi was just short of 300-400 units otherwise it could have gained the top slot throwing BMW out of office.
As per the details, the 5 millionth Audi car was a white colored A6 with the 3L TDi engine under the hood. Interestingly Audi has over 140 Quattro system variants available and strikingly near about half of the customers choose this over the normal two wheel drive system. In the same year over 2 lakh Q5’s were fitted with Quattro and it is the highest. Thus the popularity of this is increasing and it could be possible that more of the variants will be coming with Quattro as standard and the two wheel drive mechanism will be optional in the future.
