BMW had been carrying out various surveys and feasibility tests for Mini Cooper launch in the Indian market. Now, the much loved Mini brand will see its dawn in the country, next year. The Mini cars will be showcased at the 2012 Auto-Expo in Delhi.
The Mini's premium segment hatchbacks are expected to change the Indian market, and increase the demand for such high priced cars in the country. However, Volkswagen and Fiat have already introduced their premium segment hatchbacks- Volkswagen Beetle and Fiat 500. But, these cars have failed to generate sales in the market.
With BMW launching Mini Cooper in India, other big companies like Mercedes-Benz and Audi are also planning to launch their hatchbacks in India. Mercedes-Benz B-Class and Audi A3 will be launched next year, and thus put into competition with Mini Cooper cars.
