New BMW X1 to compete with Audi Q3
With reports almost confirmed, that Audi is bringing in Audi A1 based Audi Q1 SUV and there is Audi Q3 and Audi Q5 in place besides the big daddy Audi Q7 already there is much commotion in the BMW pavilion these days. In order to give its smallest of the four SUV offering BMW X1 a fresh thrust, German car maker has decided to give it a serious facelift to stand in competition. The new BMW X1 facelift model has been spotted recently in Europe.

The highly camouflaged SUV BMW X1 thus spotted suggests that there would be some cosmetic changes to the front and the side profiles. As usual, the bumpers too will get a strong makeover treatment. While the engine configuration is expected to remain the same and thus the X1 will be as powerful as before. BMW X1, launched in 2009 has not seen much changes since and this is considered to be the first big makeover. Alike its big brothers BMW X3, BMW X5 and BMW X6, the X1 preserves almost the same power under the hood and it is only a matter of proportions that differentiate the four BMW SUVs.

Despite of the step up of competition in the market, more affordable and sportier BMW X1 has registered consistent sales and there was no immediate cause that can be attributed to the change. However, with the invent of Mercedes crossover and Audi Q3, the turf for BMW X1 has certainly become tough. The absence of the four wheel drive version though is a negative for X1.
In India, BMW X1 is available in BMW X1 sdrive18i (petrol powered four cylinder engine), BMW X1 sdrive20d and BMW X1 sdrive20d (diesel engine with four cylinders). All the variants offered in India house an eight speed automatic transmission and the manual option is unavailable.
