BMWi8 makes its debut in Indian car market, priced Rs. 2.29 Crore (ex-showroom price)
Finally the wait of super luxurious hybrid sports car by German car maker BMW came to an end today when it launched BMW i8 hybrid sports car in Indian car market with starting price of Rs. 2.29 Crore (all India ex-showroom price). Prior to this the car was displayed as concept vehicle in 2009 after which by the end of 2013 it was launched in European car market after which in the following year 2014 it was showcased during the Indian Auto Expo by Indian cricket maestro Sachin Tendulkar.

Being the hybrid car it sports two engines. The wheels are rear are energized with 1.5 litre three cylinder twin turbo charged petrol engine boosting the power 213 bhp ahnd torque of 320 Nm, the power is transmitted through six speed automatic transmission system. The front wheels are empowered with an electronic motor through AT box. This electronic motor produces the power of 131 bhp and it coated with 5 kWh lithium-ion battery, thus making the total power of 362 bhp and torque of 570Nm. The hybrid sports car crosses the mark of 100 kmph in the span of 4.4 seconds and delivers an impressive fuel efficient performance of 39.9 kmpl.
The major features offered in this first sports hybrid car includes BMW drive solutions including generation next BMW iDrive supporting touch controller and handwriting recognition, 3D maps, park distance control supported with front and rear cameras as standard feature, BMW navigation system with 8.8 inch color display and few more.
