Chevrolet Aveo and Aveo UVA might say goodbye to India
Looks like General Motors India is ready to say goodbye to Chevrolet Aveo and Chevrolet Aveo UVA cars as soon as Chevrolet Sail hatchback and Chevrolet Sail sedan steps foot in the Indian car market. Rumors in the market suggest that the Sail cars will launch in the Indian around August or September 2012. However, so far, both Aveo and Aveo-UVA are in production and their sales figures dropped down to merely 140 units last month. With the hike in demand for diesel cars, the Chevrolet Aveo and Aveo-UVA demand tumbled down drastically as both of them are offered only in petrol variants. The Chevrolet Sail twins come under the same segment as GM’s Aveo range. Therefore phasing out the aging Aveo cars seems the right move. However, there is no official information regarding phasing out the Aveo range.

This year for General Motors India is going to be full of launches. The company is ready to bring in the diesel powered New Chevrolet Captiva and new Chevrolet Cruze sedan by the end of June. These will be followed by Chevrolet Sail sedan and hatchback near about August-September. By the end of the year, GM will also bring in its new MPV, Chevrolet Enjoy. So far, the Chevrolet Aveo range and Chevrolet Optra are still in the market along with GM’s successful Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet Beat hatchback, Chevrolet Tavera and Chevrolet Cruze.

General Motors brought in Aveo in the year of 2006, which didn’t get the reception that it aimed for. The firm tried to revive the car by providing it with CNG fuel option in July 2010, but sadly the diesel car demand dominated the market. The current sales figures of General Motors India are not very impressive. About 20.34% of slide was seen in the sales figures of the company in April, which is certainly a point of worry. But the company hopes to pick up pace with the launch of new cars in the Indian car bazaar. Even the Indian consumers are eagerly waiting for GM to come back with the bang!
