Chevrolet recalls around 50k Aveos in China

This year could be termed as a year of recalls. Recently, BMW has been in new regarding the recall and now it is the American car maker Chevrolet that has recalled all the 2012 models of Chevrolet Aveo in China. There is no confirmation regarding the Indian model of Aveo. Auto industry experts believe that the recall will have a negative impact on the already slow sales of the Chevrolet sedan in India and China. Notably, the Chevrolet Aveo sedan and Aveo UVA hatchback sales are not picking up primarily due to the launch of more attractive offerings such as Chevrolet Beat in the hatchback segment and Chevrolet Optra in the sedan segment.

There were reports recently almost confirming a replacement of the Chevrolet Aveo sedan and hatchback in India. However, there was no official word by the car maker. The recent recall is expected to affect around 50,000 Aveo cars. As per the communication released by GM China, the Aveo thus recalled have a faulty brake fluid warning system. The faulty sensors on the brake fluid container might not work properly and thus the driver may not get the warning about low levels of the fluid leading to brake failure, said sources.

Since this is a priority recall, Chevrolet seems to be doing all it can to replace as much as possible in the shortest possible time. However, there are no reports of an accident or casualty due to this, but the car maker won’t let anything blemish its image of producing some of the safest cars.

Back in India, the car maker is busy in making the Chevrolet Sail hatchback and Sail sedan ready for a launch soon. Besides it is also working day in and day out on the new Chevrolet Enjoy MPV which will be Maruti Ertiga rival.
