Ford India silent about the launch of Fiesta hatchback

A Brazilian automobile source has got interesting news to share about Ford Fiesta. It says much about the Ford Fiesta facelift and also claims that the facelift would be somewhat similar to the Fiesta ST concept car that would bring this three-box in the line of Ford Focus and Ford Fusion/Mondeo. It is said that the face-lifted Fiesta has not got much modifications on its rear profile, except its new looking stop light in the rear.

Ford Motors subsidiary unit in India, Ford India has not been quite clear about the Fiesta hatch launch. The Figo which is the entry level hatchback for Ford India in the domestic auto-market is also the renovated avatar of Mk5 Fiesta that has been sold like hot cakes.

May be, it is the availability of Figo and Fiesta Classic at the low price tag that is delaying or hampering the launch of Fiesta hatchback in India. With upgraded 1.5-liter diesel engine, new Fiesta seems to have been brought in order to challenge the Maruti Swift and Maruti Swift Dzire. The availability of two entry level products, i.e. the Figo and the Fiesta Classic at a low price tag can be the another big reason for putting the launch of the Fiesta hatchback on halt. In addition, Ford India itself might not be looking forward to have two rivalry hatchback siblings in the domestic subcontinent.

Auto-grand, Maruti Suzuki has got a Wagon-R hatchback competitive to Figo and its Swift too is another ongoing hatchback that has been selling on the shores quite impressively. Hyundai Motors too have come up as the leading auto-giants with its hatchbacks, i10 and i20. Earlier, the launch of i20 was projected to be risky, but i20 has come up as one of the most successful products.

Still there is ample of possibility that the Ford India would be eyeing to launch the Fiesta hatchback in India, but we will have to wait for the official announcements.
