Honda Amaze coming next year, Amaze diesel model to fetch bumper sales
It is the Honda Brio that has saved the Japanese car maker from getting pessimistic about India. Now, as per the latest reports, the Brio based Honda Amaze compact sedan will be a car that will equal Honda City in terms of sales. The reason behind this belief is that the new Honda car will be a compact sedan and it also be offered in diesel. Honda has received a jolt after petrol price shot up in India and this new diesel sedan by Honda will be able to revive the brand that is struggling for sales for the past one and a half year.
The Brio based Amaze compact sedan will be unveiled in Thailand on Nov 23 and it will have an India launch sometime early next year. It is said that Honda will be hurrying up with the Amaze launch in India as the market eagerly awaits a diesel sedan by the car maker. Recently more details regarding the Honda sedan have come up and it is said that the car will have the petrol engine derived from Honda Jazz. The Jazz hatchback has 1.2 L iVTec petrol engine that outputs 88 bhp with high level of frugality. In India, the Amaze diesel car will be powered by a turbo based diesel engine with a cubic capacity of 1.5 L. Since it will be a compact sedan, it will have under four meter length but will have a longer wheelbase than the Brio. This means that the rear passengers will have more leg space and there will be more space for the boot.

The new compact sedan will be competing head on with the segment first Tata Indigo eCS, Maruti Swift Dzire and upcoming Mahindra Verito CS. This sedan will be almost equal in power output than any of its competitors and its price is expected to be around Rs 6 lakh to Rs 7 lakh.
