Honda Amaze crosses 2 Lakh sales milestone in India
The Indian subsidiary of Japanese carmaker Honda added one more feather in its cap by selling 2 lakh units of its sub-compact sedan Amaze in the country. Launched three years back in India, Honda Amaze was the first compact sedan to be offered in diesel engine along with petrol power train.
Earlier this year in March, to keep the sedan fresh among Indian car aficionados Honda launched Amaze facelift with various cosmetic changes on both exteriors and interiors. Mechanically 2016 Amaze remains unchanged and continues the same engine configuration offered in its predecessor, i.e.1.2 litre i-VTEC petrol engine developing the power of 87 bhp and torque of 109 while diesel trim is powered by 1.5 litre i-DTEC engine boosting the power of 99 bhp and peak torque of 200Nm. Both the engines are mated with five speed manual transmission system and optional CVT transmission system for petrol variant. Interestingly, Amaze is the first car in its segment to be offered with CVT technology.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. VP, Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India, said, “Honda Amaze has established itself as a very successful entry sedan in the Indian market. During the span of 3 years, it has achieved sales milestone of 200,000 units bringing new customers into Honda fold. The car has been extremely popular in both big and smaller cities due to its strong value offering and Honda’s core strengths of quality, durability and reliability. We are extremely thankful to all our customers for their continuous support and faith in the brand.”
2016 Honda Amaze comes in seven colour options that include the new Bluish Titanium Metallic, Taffeta White, Carnelian Red Pearl, Urban Titanium Metallic, Alabaster Silver Metallic, Orchid White Pearl and Golden Brown Metallic to compete against the likes of recently launched Volkswagen Ameo, Hyundai Xcent, Maruti Swift DZire, and Ford Figo Aspire.
