Honda Amaze launch nears, anticipation on the rise
Honda India has already spilled beans about introducing the first diesel car called Honda Amaze, on the 11th of April. However, Honda is yet to gain experience in the domain of diesel car versions. It has barely rolled out three engines before the launching of the 1.5 L unit. Honda did unveil the very first diesel version in the year 2003 called Accord that was equipped with the 2.2L i-CTDi engine. After that, Honda launched the CR-V that was revamped with 2.2 L i-DTEC engine. The third version came previous year that was featuring 1.6L i-DTEC engine. This model is available currently also, on the CR-V and on the Civic, in Europe region.
The upcoming diesel powered Amaze sedan is expected to arrive in three diverse powertrain alternatives. These alternatives include 1.2 L petrol powered by a 5-speed AT/MT along with featuring an ARAI-rated fuel economy figure of 15.5 kmpl, the 1.5 L diesel powered by a 5-speed MT along with featuring an ARAI-rated fuel economy figure of 25.8 kmpl (whoosh!) and the 1.2 L petrol powered by 5-speed MT along with featuring an ARAI-rated fuel economy figure of 18 kmpl.
In comparison to the Honda Brio on which the Amaze is based, this car is round about 60mm longer. This model is also equipped with a cozy cushier rear seat along with featuring a central arm rest. There is an integration of a compact boot into the C-Pillar that is increasing the boot volume to 400 liters. As far as other aspects of the car are concerned then Amaze does bear a striking resemblance with the Brio model. The Honda Amaze is expected to be pricier than Maruti Swift Dzire by the margin of Rs 30k-40k. There are no qualms that increasing prices of petrol are compelling Indians to look for diesel versions so the chances of success of Amaze diesel variant are quite high.
