The next generation of compact sedan Honda Amaza that was Made in India and launched last year in the Indian car market has succeeded in scoring 4 Stars in the recently concluded Global New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) crash test. The Amaze was among three cars that were tested during the test, which was conducted to check their feasibility for the African continent.

According to reports the test was conducted by driving the Amaze at the speed of 64 kmph, during which the persons sitting on the front seats were completely protected due to the presence of front airbags. The chest of the driver remained protected during the crash, whereas there was marginal damage to the knees portion. One thing which might disappoint to the buyers of Amaze in the African car market is that despite of scoring 4 stars in the adult occupancy test, the compact sedan failed to score impressive starts in the child occupancy and scored only one star in the child protection test. The dummies placed during the test were badly damaged. Although, the rear seats have ISOFIX installed to offer comfort seating experience to the children.

In African car market the Honda Amaze is offered with driver seatbelt reminder, dual air bags for the front passengers,  and front seat belt pre-tensioners as standard features. The Indian version is also equipped with seatbelt reminders for the front and seat passengers and also the speed alert system as the standard feature. In India it is offered in both the petrol and diesel variants empowered with 1.5 litre i-VTEC and 1.5 litre i-DTEC engines respectively.
