Honda Brio Phased Out From The Indian Car Market

Finally, Honda Cars India Limited has discontinued its entry-level hatchback Brio from the Indian car market. Despite of various endeavors made by the company, it did not succeed in pleasing the Indian buyers, and now the compact sedan Amaze has been honored with the title of the entry-level car by the Indo-Japanese car makers. In the words of Mr. Rajesh Goel, Senior Vice-President and Director (Sales and Marketing),"Our entry car is now Amaze. We have stopped production of the Brio and as of now we do not intend to bring next-generation Brio into India," Moving ahead, Mr. Goel also added, " The Jazz and WR-V are other two models which would cater to the small car requirements"

The first generation of Brio was launched back in September 2011, followed by a facelift in 2016. But, fortunately, despite equipped with all the contemporary features, the hatchback failed to impress the buyers and till now has the number of only 97,000 units, sold under its bracket. Recently, the company had launched generation next Amaze and CR-V in the Indian car market and getting ready to launch the 10th Generation of Civic during the month of March this year.

According to the industry experts, the main reason behind phasing out Brio from the Indian car market can be increasing interest for compact sedans and SUVs among the Indian buyers. This could be witnessed from the response received by the Amaze, which emerged as a game changer for the company since its launch back in 2013. It would be interesting to know, that same response has been received by the second generation of the Amaze, which records the sales of 63,000 units sold, till date.
