It has been a long time since the company was looking forward to enter the diesel run car segment, where it has never been present so far. The absence of high in demand diesel variants has cost company a lot with its market share declining continuously. In recent past, a series of entry level and mid-sized sedans have entered in the Indian market and are available in both petrol and diesel version including the likes of Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid, Maruti SX4 diesel, Swift Dzire, Nissan Sunny and many more. With diesel cars much in demand, popular sedan Honda City has been witnessing a fierce competition from diesel run competitors.

Now coming to the new entry level Honda Amaze, petrol version of which will be launched in the Thai market next month, will be carrying a length of less than 4 meters. It will help this model to qualify for lesser excise duty segment and to be priced competitively lower. The company plans to launch the diesel version of this sedan initially which will be followed by a petrol version after a few months.
