Hyundai Santro: the craze continues

Hyundai Santro, the entry level hatchback by Korean car maker in Indian car market which made its debut in 1998 is still one of the liked hatchbacks in Indian car maker still after 16 years of its inception. According to sales statistics revealed by company it still sales 2500 units of Santro every month in Indian car market. From last few months it was rumored that car maker is going to discontinue the hatchback from  India. But now denying all the rumors car maker has confirmed that it is not going to stop the production of Santro which still after many years of its entrance is performing well in market.

In Indian car market Santro is offered in petrol variant and competes with Wagon R and Alto K10 from Maruti Suzuki India Limted and Chevrolet Spark from General Motors. The price range of Santro falls between Rs. 3.01 lakh and Rs. 4.09 lakh (ex-showroom price in New Delhi). It would be interested that where other manufacturers have upgraded their vehicles according to changing trend Santro has not undergone major upgrades and surprisingly still there is regular demand for it.

Talking about the recent launches by car maker, it would be important to mention that company’s Grand i10 launched last year received an overwhelming response from buyers which continued with launch of sedan Xcent couple of months ago followed by recently launched Elite i20. Moving ahead the car maker has stopped the export of its products and wishes to focus mainly on domestic sales.
