Is Hyundai Sonata discontinued from Indian car market?
It is reported that Korean car maker Hyundai has discontinued its luxurious sedan Sonata from Indian car market which was launched back in 2001. Although the official website of car maker is still displaying the pictures and name of this luxurious sedan in its portfolio. The decision of discontinuing Sonata from Indian car market seems to be take due to poor performance of car in D segment despite of comfort and luxurious features offered by it.
The first generation carried most of its clue from Jaguar and succeeded in receiving an overwhelming response from the car enthusiasts across the country. But unfortunately the modified fifth generation could not succeed in satisfying the expectations of its aspirants due to its not so impressive interiors. Apart from this the buyers were also not interested to buy the diesel cars at the time of its inception. However to overcome this issue in 2012 the car maker brought sixth generation of Skoda in petrol version but this strategy also did not worked for company and its sales slipped down to ten units per month. Going through the regular decline in demand the car maker has to finally discontinue this sedan from Indian car market.
