Jaguar C-Type displayed, F Type by year end

There are two good news from Tata owned Jaguar in India. First is that Jaguar C Type has come to India at the Cartier ‘Travel with Style’ Concours d’Elegance held in Mumbai recently and the next big news is that the Jaguar F Type will be joining the fleet of Jaguar cars in India this year. These two developments are major ones as this shows the way ahead for the British car brand in the country. Where the C Type has been unveiled, the F Type will see a launch somewhere around Diwali this year. The F Type is one of the most awaited sports cars in India and its launch plans have cleared the air regarding Jaguar’s plans to pitch in some of its best sports cars.

Though there is meek market for sports cars and no roads that can comfortably sustain them for long, India remains one of those markets where there are sports car lovers who desperately seek some wonderful offerings. Where the C Type is a Le Mans winner in 1951, it took another victory some two years later as well. The 3.4 L engine powered car outputting some 200 hp of power sprints to 100 kmph mark in few seconds. The car’s successor D Type took some segment first features in 1955 and bagged Le Mans at that time. Thus showcasing the C Type in India at the Mumbai event means introducing India to the legacy.  

The F Type sports car is in fact a successor of the C Type and it will be available in three models viz. Jaguar F Type, F Type S and F Type V8 S that has powerplants ranging from 3 L and 5 L supercharged versions. Unlike the four speed manual gearbox on C Type, the F Type has the eight speed ZF automatic transmission that takes it to 100 kmph mark in just 5.1 seconds. The V8 S model of the F Type is the fastest and touches the 100 kmph mark in just 4.2 seconds.
