Maruti Eeco limited edition christened ‘Smiles’ launched

India’s largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki India has inducted the limited edition of Maruti Eeco that has been named Eeco Smiles. MSI has given cosmetic touch up to the vehicle with no mechanical change and is still powered with the 1.2 litre petrol motor. The 1.2 litre petrol engine engenders a maximum power of 73 Bhp and a peak torque of 101 Nm. Unlike other vehicles in India, Eeco’s engine is placed under the front seats, which is harmonized to a five speed manual transmission. Looking at the sky rocketing price of petrol the company has come up with a viable option of CNG kit that helps reducing the fuel expenses.

Some new features have been introduced in the limited edition which includes wheel covers on the exteriors, mud flaps and Smiles stickers present on the sides and rear end of the vehicle. Step Inside the car and you will notice new features like the fresh double DIN music system with USB, new doormats, seat covers are now coloured in dual tone.

The price has seen an upsurge of Rs 9,490 and now starts at Rs 3.32 lakh (ex-Showroom Mumbai) for the five seater variant without air conditioner. While the five seater trim with air conditioner is up for sale at Rs 3.63 lakh, there is a seven seater variant too that is available for sale at Rs 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai), this trim also comes with air conditioner.

Stereo and seat covers are the only two important new features that are offered in the new limited edition of the mini-van. The other features that have been added to the vehicle are very basic which are usually offered in all contemporary cars.

Maruti Eeco is more of a people mover than a proper fully fledged car, apart from Eeco; Maruti Omni also serves the same purpose. However, Eeco has an edge over Omni as it flaunts a power steering and air conditioner. Eeco offers more space than Omni, one thing that is common in both the vehicles is that they come with a number of applications despite the fact that they are used as people carrier or as a cargo van.

Maruti Eeco CNG is also used as a taxi, as this is a frugal option for taxi drivers. This isn’t it, MSI has also put on offer the ambulance trim of the vehicle which implies that Eeco serves multiple purposes. Length of Eeco is below four meter and it has a narrow stance, this makes it a perfect vehicle to park and drive in packed places.
