Maruti Suzuki Ritz to enter in taxi segment of Indian car market

With an objective to strengthen its roots in taxi segment after successfully introducing Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire Tour, country’s largest manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India Limited is now speculating to introduce its hatchback Ritz in taxi segment. Earlier it was reported that car maker will introduce its hatchback Celerio in taxi segment but now according to recent reports it will also introduce Ritz in taxi segment. According to reports it will introduce Ritz Vdi version in taxi segment, the Vdi trim of Ritz is empowered with power steering and air conditioner. As far as date of launching Ritz taxi is concern nothing has been so far revealed from the company sources.

Apart from Ritz taxi car maker is also going to soon launch the diesel variant of Celerio soon in Indian car market which would be empowered with 2 pot 800 cc diesel motor boosting the power between 35-40 bhp and torque between 120 Nm and 130 Nm. It is reported that in the beginning the diesel variant would be offered with only manual transmission system and in later months company will introduce its AMT version.

It would be interested to know that company’s compact sedan Dzire Tour has witnessed significant increase as far as number of sales in concerned. According to sales records revealed by company it sold out 2613 units of Dzire Tour during March 2014-15 whereas during the same period of FY 2013-154 it sold 1271 units of Dzire Tour.
