Maruti Suzuki to resume production tomorrow

The news is that Maruti Suzuki will resume production at the Manesar plant on Sunday. The country's largest car maker had to stop production at its plant because the workers stopped supplies and went on a strike.

A company executive was recorded saying that the normal production will resume immediately as Suzuki Powertrain workers have decided to end the strike. However the producton at company's Gurgaon plants will restart from Monday.

Maruti Suzuki had to stop production when its plants faced no supplies situation on Thursday. The workers stopped supplies in order to support the striking workers at Manesar plant. The workers of the Manesar plant went on strike on August 29, when they were asked to sign the Good Conduct Bond by the management of the Company. The strike continues as the workers refused to sign the bond, and the company declined to compromise on any condition. However, the company has now agreed to talk to the workers on the same issue.

Rajesh Kumar, General Secretary of Employees Union at Suzuki Powertrain India, said that the company has now changed its decision and has agreed to get in talks with the workers. He said that the workers showed the company that they are united and aware.

Things are expected to settle down soon. Shiv Charan Lal Sharma, State Labour Minister, has also intervened in the matter and looking at things personally. Maruti Suzuki is now looking forward to hiring more trained workers and increasing the production of its highest selling car Maruti Swift.
