The upcoming SUV would be launched to replace the M Class badge from Indian car market. After launch in India the GLE will compete against Audi Q5, BMW X3 and recently launched Land Rover Discovery Sport.

Under bonnet it will be available with two engine options in diesel trim which would be 2.2 litre in line 4 cylinder and 3.0 litre V6 engine. Although both the engine options have same displacement capacity but will deliver different fuel consumption figures. The transmission system would be offered with 9 speed automatic transmission system. The front fascia is similar to recently launched cars by German car maker including flowing headlamps followed by DRLS. However as far as side and rear profile is concerned it carries most of its clues from existing M-Class series.
