Mercedes Benz India sent the vehicles to the dealerships long time before the official launch of M Class special edition. Special previews of Mercedes Benz M Class for the customers were also organized by the Mercedes dealers. Most of the customers were taken aback by its innovative features and mesmerizing looks. Mercedes plans to bring more cars in India through CKD route as it will help in tagging the car at a competitive price. At present, the company assembles Mercedes Benz C Class, Mercedes Benz E Class and Mercedes Benz S Class in India at its Chakan facility. And now Mercedes Benz M Class will also be assembled locally followed by the Mercedes Benz GL Class, the assembling of GL Class will commence a year after M Class’ production starts.

Local assembling will help reducing the price of Mercedes cars substantially which will eventually boost the sales of the German car maker in India. By assembling cars locally, Mercedes will be exempted from paying the high import duty levied on CBU’s. Mercedes is all set to be back with a vengeance and the auto maker has also lined up a number of launches in the domestic market, like the Mercedes Benz A Class, Mercedes Benz B Class and Mercedes Benz GLA which will cross swords with BMW X1 SUV. Mercedes Benz India which once rules the luxury segment in India has been outpaced by its German counterparts, BMW and Audi. The new launches and assembling its cars locally are a few steps which the company is taking to regain the top spot which belonged to it earlier.
