Mercedes Benz to assemble S Class in India

German luxurious car maker which launched the new S-Class sedan saloon in Indian car market couple of days back is reported to assemble the parts of this premium saloon at its production plant located at Pune from April 2014. With this it is also reported that Mercedes Benz India, the Indian division of German car maker is also going to introduce some new infants in Indian car market with an objective of capturing its top position back in Indian car market.
 
At present Mercedes Benz India is positioned second in the luxurious car segment in Indian car market recording growth of 32% during 2013. At present this segment is dominated by another German car maker Audi, which sold out 10,000 units of Audi car in India in the year 2013. The recently launched generation next Mercedes Benz S Class is available with price tag of Rs. 1.75 crore (ex-showroom price in Delhi). After this launch it is expected that in forthcoming Indian Auto Expo company will showcase GLA SUV and the CLA sports sedan and will be launched in India by the end of this year.

According to Mr. Ederhard Kern, CEO and MD, Mercedes Benz India said that as part of its expansion plans company had invested sufficient amount for assembling parts of its different vehicles at its production plant in Pune. With this company is also enhancing its production capacity to 20,000 units annually to meet the requirements of Indian car market. Mr. Kern also added that company is also speculating to few new products in ongoing year and with enhanced production capacity it will be launching some surprising vehicles in market.
