BMW 5 series current generation was made available in the year 2011 and the company has already started test running a slightly tweaked version of the vehicle. BMW 5 series this time goes under the scalpel for some cosmetic changes only which are rendered both at the front and the rear end. The pictures that have hit the interweb hint at these changes: the front bumper is designed and now incorporates bigger and brighter fog lamps with enhanced chrome detailing. BMW engineers have also reworked the grille and the new one looks akin to what has been featured on the new BMW 3 Series that was launched last year.
The back end is pretty much the same, just a few alterations with the exhaust pipes and bumpers. As the pictures that have been clicked throw light on the exterior changes only with none catching the interior tweaks, the rumors suggest that BMW will adorn the new revised version of 5 series with iDrive multimedia system and a configurable instrument display already introduced on the recently facelifted BMW 7 Series with revisions to the switches and knobs.
BMW 5 series engine lineup is expected to remain unchanged with the same 2.0-litre petrol manual, 2.5-litre petrol, 2.0-litre diesel and both the 3.0-litre diesel and petrol mills still working under the hoods of the car model range. However, the market expects the fuel efficiency figures to rise. BMW is likely to unveil the upgraded 5 series at the upcoming 2013 Geneva Motor Show with an Indian launch to happen later in the year.
