New Ford Fiesta to be launched with 1.5L Engine

In a startling move, Ford India declared that they will be launching the all new Ford Fiesta with an engine capacity of 1.5L in both the variants.

The expectations were set on a 1.6 Liter, 118 Bhp Duratec Ti-VCT petrol engine and a 1.6 Liter, 90 Bhp TDCI Duratorq Diesel but Ford India stunned everyone with this change in the engines of both versions.

The company disclosed that the new Ford Fiesta will be equipped with a 1.5 Liter Ti-VCT Duratec petrol engine and in the diesel variant it will be accustomed with a 1.5 Liters TDCI engine producing 90 Bhp of power.

Setting this as a first in world act, the Indian version of Ford Fiesta Sedan will have different engines as compared to its global versions. The main reason behind this stunning move by Ford India is to achieve a better fuel economy for the Indian market, where fuel prices are at an all time high rate thus the car’s fuel consumption plays an important role.

On the brighter side, even the engines are smaller but it has not put an adverse effect on the technologies that are incorporated in the cars.

The petrol variant is equipped with variable valve technology and the diesel version gets four valves per cylinder with a dual overhead cam shaft and an intercooler which gives more power to the engine and slows its response time.

Till that time we will restrain ourselves from making a decision about Ford Fiesta’s performance.

The new 2011 Fiesta Sedan will also be stocked with some top of the line features that can be outraced only by Hyundai Verna Fluidic.

This will also help in changing the mindset of buyers regarding the C-segment cars, thus some advanced functions like voice assist for audio controls and cruise control are paving their way forward in the Indian market.
