New hatchbacks bring cheers to the car market this festive season

The new generation hatchbacks are proving trendsetters in the Indian car market with accounting for a significant chunk of car sales during this festive season. In this festive season, a series of new hatchbacks have entered in the Indian market. Most of new entrants are receiving an overwhelming response from the Indian buyers, which has raised the competition in the compact hatchback segment significantly. In this article, we will be taking a look at the newly launched hatchbacks in the Indian market.

The most talked about among these is all new Chevrolet U-VA model will has been launched in the Rs 4.44 lakh to Rs 6.62 lakh (ex-show room New Delhi). The new U-VA is placed very competitively in the Indian market up to Rs 40,000 lower in comparison to Swift. Powered by the well proven 1.3 litre 'Smartech' diesel engine, the U-VA model delivers a segment leading fuel economy of 22.1 kilometers per liter as compared to petrol versions 18.2 km per liter. The major attractions of this car include large 248-litre volume boot, rotary dials for the AC unit and as many as 25 smart storage spaces.

The second one is new automatic version of Honda Brio hatchback, which has made the Brio one of the few hatchbacks which is available in the auto transmission variants. Two variants of the car are offered in the automatic version including S (O) AT and the V AT at a price tag of Rs 5.74 lakh and Rs 5.99 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom Delhi). The company has also launched manual transmission version on the other hand is available at Rs 4.26 lakh (ex-Delhi). The new additions include 1 DIN MP3 audio system with USB with Aux –In, 2 front speakers, body colored ORVMs and door handles, etc.

The next new hatchback is upgraded Chevrolet Spark which is rolled-out with a series of cosmetic changes including new dual tone front and rear bumpers, new wing inspired instrument cluster and dual tone interiors. Moreover, the improved engine of the car is now more efficient and reliable.

Meanwhile, Ford has launched new generation Ford Figo model with price tag of Rs 3,84,999 for the petrol and Rs 4,81,999 for diesel variant. While the company is calling this one an enhanced Kinetic Design, the new Figo now has new face with hexagonal grille and redesigned headlamps, new bezels in fog lights, etc. Also the visibility for the driver has been improved by offering larger reflective surface on headlamps.

Next one in the line-up of new hatchbacks is all new Maruti Alto 800 which is offered at the starting price of Rs 2.44 lakh and 3.56 lakh for petrol and CNG variant, respectively (ex showroom New Delhi). Within a few weeks of its launch in the Indian market, the company has received over 10,000 bookings for this  model. Fuel economy of this model is about 15 percent better at 22.74 kilometers per litre for petrol version and 30.46 kilometers per kilogram for CNG version.

The last model in the list is new Indica eV2 model  which is rolled-out in a upgraded version. New generation Tata Indica eV2 is about Rs 23,000 cheaper as compared to previous generation version. Positioned in the price segment of Rs 4,01,162 to Rs 4,87,619 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the new Indica eV2 model delivers a segment leading fuel economy of 25 km per liter.
