Production units of Mahindra and Mahindra to close for four days

Domestic car maker Mahindra and Mahindra has said that production at its all production units across the country will remain close for four days during the ongoing month. The halt at production units according to company sources has been due to low demand of Mahindra utility vehicles being sold in Indian car market.  Commenting on this halt, one of company’s senior officials said that the decision of halting the production for four days has been taken to maintain the proper balance between production and sales.

Moving ahead the same official said that this halt will however not affect the demand of vehicles in market as there is huge stock to meet the customers demand. This halt will be equally implemented on company’s all manufacturing units located at Haridwar, Nashik and Chakan. According to sales figures revealed by company the sales of its utility vehicles declined to 6.91 percent during the period from April to July this year. Although its SUV and crossover are doing well in market but still company is not achieving the expected sales figures from these segments. It is speculated that scenario will however improve with launch of new Scorpio and Xylo in coming months.
