Renault dreams higher, banking on Pulse and upcoming Duster
Renault India the subsidiary of French car maker has set the country as the one where it hopes to 20-fold its sales this year. Currently Renault has three offerings – Renault Fluence which is its flagship car, Renault Koleos SUV and the small premium car Renault Pulse. Another car that is soon to be added to the fleet is Renault Duster. While the fifth car which will be a Nissan Sunny based sedan is expected to be launched by this year end. It had also recently launched new diesel Fluence priced at Rs 15.2 lakh.

Notably, Renault started its solo operations in 2011 after it ceased its ties with the SUV maker Mahindra India. As per the sales report made public by the car maker, it sold 1500 cars in 2011 and with the rise in product base as well as its growing presence, the car maker hopes to take it to around 30,000 unit cars annually. Renault India managing director Marc Nassif told press on Tuesday that the company hopes to 20 fold by December 2012. It is expected that with the present strategy in place, Renault will be able to achieve its target well before December. Renault Pulse hatchback and Renault Duster are expected to be major contributors.

Renault India had entered India in association with Mahindra India and had jointly launched the Mahindra Logan car in India that is based on the French technology. Later there was a split and Renault started its own operations in 2011. It is when it started its aggressive strategy and launched cars back to back. It had slated five cars till this year end. Three are already in and two are in the pipeline. Currently the car maker caters to hatchback, sedan and SUV segment but has till now premium offering in these segments. Experts believe that if Renault launches some entry level offerings then achieving this target could be more than easy. Whereas Renault’s upcoming SUV Renault Duster has created much abuzz in the market and is expected to pave the way for a great successful innings ahead.
