Renault India to launch new small car, mini SUV and mid-size sedan by 2012
The French car maker Renault will be having a considerably large product portfolio in the country by the end of year 2012. The firm has planned-up launch of three new car models in the Indian market in next one year that comprises of a compact hatchback, a mini SUV and a mid-size sedan. While Renault’s compact hatchback will be launched in the country by this year end, the mini SUV and mid-size sedan will be launched next year, in the mid-2012 and year end, respectively.
The car maker has already launched two of its most popular global cars in the Indian market including premium sedan Fluence and luxury sports utility vehicle Koleos. The Fluence model was launched in the Indian market just a few months back. The car has been shelved in the Price segment of Rs 12 to 14 lakh where it is competing with the likes of Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla Altis, Skoda Laura, Chevrolet Cruze and Volkswagen Jetta.
Last year, the company had announced that it is planning to launch five new car model in the Indian market by the end of next year, and so far it is right on track with its plans. The company aims to be in the top three car makers in the Indian car market by year 2014.
Besides expanding its product portfolio, the firm is also looking to expand its dealership network in the Indian auto market. The firm plans to take the total number of its dealerships to 40 dealers by the end of year 2011. The company will have a strong network of 100 dealers by the end of next year.
