Renault Modus small car expected to launch on 29th October

Hyundai came to fame with Santro, Figo reinstated Ford and latest was Micra which actually introduced Nissan, out of many small hatchbacks, these are some of the instances which changed the fortunes of foreign companies in India. Following a similar approach is the French automaker Renault coming up with its first hatchback small car in India named Modus. It seems that it has now become a mandate rather than a trend to have a small vehicle in your line-up; as far as auto market in the country is concerned.

The company has announced to launch the small vehicle on 29th October. The Modus model is offered in two body form variants globally, one is Modus another is Grand Modus. Initially only Modus variant will make way in the country. One of the largest automakers in alliance with Nissan, it is expected that Modus will bear the same engine as Nissan Micra. A 1.2L petrol run engine and another 1.5L DCi engine are projected to power Renault Modus.

The major highlight of Modus is that it is the only small vehicle to receive a 5-Star rating in car safety by the European evaluation program.

Earlier the France based automobile manufacturer has launched Fluence in the sedan segment and Koleos in SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) segment, but unfortunately both the vehicles didn’t saw the expected success. As a result, Renault will be counting on Modus to establish itself as an independent producer of automobiles in India, after the dissolution of its joint venture with Mahindra and Mahindra that manufactured Logan sedan.
