To be launched in 2012, Renault showcases Pulse diesel hatchback

In its bid to establish in India, French auto major Renault unleashed its new pumping Pulse diesel on Saturday. Not disclosing the prices, company focused on the amazing features that this small car will carry. The smart hatchback is expected to be launched somewhere in 2012.

Some of the highlighted features of Renault Pulse comprise of chrome handlebars, keyless entry, rear seat with cup holders, head rests and thigh support, power steering, power windows and beautiful beige color interiors form the cabin part while adding jazz to the exterior body are powerful headlights with dual beam and 15” alloy wheels.

Apart from these terrific features, the hatchback segment vehicle will be packed with a new 1.5L diesel engine already doing the duties in Mahindra Logan and Nissan Micra under the name K9K. Renault Pulse is speculated to deliver impressive fuel efficiency of 23 Kmpl.

As per the company once associated with Mahindra & Mahindra, the all new Pulse will be manufactured at their co-owned Chennai plant alongside Nissan Micra.

In world’s fastest growing auto market after China, it would be interesting to see how Renault tags its Pulse but as per industry experts, with the announced features and diesel engine the car is expected to be placed in the price range of Rs 6 lakhs to Rs 8 lakhs. If priced so, it would face a tough competition in form of Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai i20, Maruti Suzuki new Swift, Honda Brio, etc.

With Renault announcing its entry into the small car market of India, one thing is clear if you want to progress in this country you need to show your worth in the hatchback segment. The French auto manufacturer last unveiled its SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) Koleos and sedan Fluence after the alliance with Mahindra ended.
