Rolls Royce wins the race at Pebble Beach
Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar of Udaipur, who is the member of the reputed and world’s oldest living dynasty, has become the very first Indian to grab the winner position in 62nd Annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance event that was organized in California, USA. This was a five-day long event. The 1942 Rolls-Royce 20 HP, Barker Tourer (GLK 21) that belonged to Shriji was picked by Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance judging panel for participating in the event. The Lucius Beebe Trophy was given to Rolls-Royce on 19th August 2012.
On this auspicious occasion, the Mewar House also rolled out a coffee table book (194 pages) that is devoted to the restoration and history of Rolls-Royce car of Udaipur and its family association since past seven generations. The House of Mewar has never discouraged these rallies and has always promoted numerous car rallies. Its participation in the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance event showcases the commitment of the House of Mewar towards its heritage.
Coming to the Coffee table book that was launched on the event is very interesting. The book is called ‘The Royal Udaipur RR GLK 21 Classic Drive from Derby to Udaipur to Pebble Beach and… Continues’. The book makes you experience again the journey of Rolls-Royce 20 HP, Barker Tourer from the beginning.
On the occasion, Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar of Udaipur was overwhelmed with the honor and expressed his passion of resurrect and restore classic cars to its original splendor.
Rolls-Royce India has been present since a long time now. In earlier days, the Maharajas and Maharanas switched from a horse-drawn carriage to some exquisite Rolls-Royce car. By winning the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance event in California has added another feather to the rich heritage of the dynasty and of the car.
