Skoda Fabia to be phased out in India
Skoda Auto India, the 100 per cent subsidiary of Czech Republic based firm Skoda Auto, is going to discontinue the Skoda Fabia in Indian auto market very soon. At present, the Fabia premium hatchback is not doing well in terms of sales in domestic market. The company is reporting around 1.5 lakhs of lose on sale of each model. It is reported that just like Honda Jazz, a next generaion version of the premium hatch will be launched next year and it will be based on Volkswagen's MQB platform.

In the Indian auto market, the Fabia hatchback was launched in 2008 with both petrol and diesel engine models. After some time, a re-freshed version of the vehicle was also offered with a powerful 1.6L petrol engine. At present, the beast is being offered in two models from features wise like Fabia and Skoda Fabia Scout and three engine options like 1.2L petrol, 1.6L petrol and 1.2L diesel.
Skoda Fabia is the first premium hatch in the country which was offered with many of innovative premium features like projector headlamps, sunroof, electrical ORVMs, rear wiper and many more. Meanwhile, the high-end premium Fabia Scout, which is available with 1.2L petrol and 1.2L diesel engine options, carries sporty body design along with plastic cladding and projector headlamps. Before phase out, a huge price discount on the available models is expected. The company will continue assemble kits for the running models.
